Its the second day running with Cape Town temperatures peaking at over 35C. Inland they're well over 45C! We're at maximum fire hazard with firefighters being rushed from one fire to the next.
Quite by coincidence the US military has announced a heat-ray gun called the "the Active Denial System" which is intended to repel people. Apparantly it "it projects an invisible high energy beam that produces a sudden burning feeling".
